FR :

When I was in high school, I was studying classical music at a somewhat haughty conservatory. As a result, I never really opened up to anything else. But when I met a guitarist who told me his progressive rock band needed a keyboard player, I thought, why not? That band was called Black Box. Interestingly enough, EKXV, who sings on this track, was the lead singer of the Black Box!The composition is rather simple and respects a classic rock structure, with a little orchestral touch, reminiscent of the epic arrangements of the 70s. The main interest of this song is the alternation between the catchy harmonic moments, and the much darker and more intimate ones. I wanted to pay tribute to my friends who suffer from bipolarity, for whom life is sometimes hell, sometimes heaven, but who can't feel the wide spectrum that separates these two extremes.

lyrics

VERSE 1

Blanked, For a second
Like I tripped and now fall, I feel
Burdening warmth from this Pit, Of emotions
My body’s locking down, Inside
My mind catches on fire is it…

Death Clogs my thoughts now
The heat comes from my chest, I choke
On the foggy knowledge of my Flesh
Smothering me
There’s burning in my arm
No smoke
Doesn’t mean no flame I could…

Laughs, Breathe on ember
Ignite my deepest dread, Aren’t I
Nothing but a liar a, Weight
On the others
To drag out of fake trenches, I dug
A furnace of my own making no don’t…

Spin, All in my sight
Ground above closing in, Air low
Devoured by the blaze I must
Sit, And wait
Despite it all what will, Hurt most
Is to tell you I’m not fine

CHORUS

Now you may not see me
But soon I’ll be set free
In time this box will wear and I’ll burst out
I see the light break through
Just need a hand from you
To reach beyond these blackened walls of self-doubt
I know you feel it too
Yeah in some way you do
Every box is first made of alienation
Our darkness soon won’t be
It’ll show cracks and we
Will fight for in and outer revolution

BRIDGE

Oooooooh
We could be someone new
Oooooooh
We could be ourselves too

VERSE 2
Blanked, Once more
This time I drift afar, Your voice
Cannot get through this whole Sea,
Of indifference
Numbness now comes in wave, Each time
I’m drowning further I need…

Wrath, Like thunder
A sudden storm just broke, All words
Now hurts like pouring rain of, Noise
Drone currents
Fighting it off in anger, My mind
Sinks even deeper just calm…

Down, Hit by sadness
Coming in freezing flows, A glimpse
Of loved ones witnessing this, Mute
I just became
Pictures of lovers past, Estranged
By the drift of this wreck I am…

Drained, Heavy with void
I can’t swim any more, Let me
Rest on the seabed so I’m Shut
By the water
Unreachable so you, Can’t know
About this illness of mine

CHORUS

Now you may not see me
But soon I’ll be set free
In time this box will wear and I’ll burst out
I see the light break through
Just need a hand from you
To reach beyond these blackened walls of self-doubt
I know you feel it too
Yeah in some way you do
Every box is first made of alienation
Our darkness soon won’t be
It’ll show cracks and we
Will fight for in and outer revolution
